This is ALFA’s second annual list of top deficiencies across the nation.  The list provides an interesting snapshot of the state of assisted living or at least the regulatory view of assisted living.  At the same time, it’s a difficult task because the survey process is varies so much state to state.

This is ALFA’s second annual list of top deficiencies across the nation.  The list provides an interesting snapshot of the state of assisted living or at least the regulatory view of assisted living.  At the same time, it’s a difficult task because the survey process is varies so much state to state.

It’s further complicated by the fact that not all states are providing data.

Here is the top six with number 1 being the most frequently reported deficiency:

  1. Medication Administration
  2. Resident Admission Requirements
  3. On-Going Resident Assessment
  4. Maintenance & Building Codes
  5. Staff Training
  6. Resident Care

The entire report is available for free to ALFA members and $250 for non-members.  Anyone can download the 7 page executive summary, where you can see the rest of the list for free.  Here is the link.

How does this fit with your experience?  Do think this list and the ranking of the list are reflective of the biggest problems in assisted living?
